Excellent Growth Deal boost for projects in Somerset

Somerset will benefit from around £24m of Government funding for five key projects to boost employment and economic growth. The Growth Deal funding announcement from Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy has allocated £43.5m to the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership (HotSW LEP), in which Somerset County Council is a key partner.
New Wiveliscombe Enterprise Centre given the go ahead

Plans for an exciting, new Enterprise Centre in Wiveliscombe were given the go ahead this month. The new, purpose built facility, located on the old Karro Food Group site on Sandy Moor in Wiveliscombe, will provide modern, accessible space for small and growing businesses. Once built, the centre will provide 260 square metres of flexible office space and 350 square metres of light industrial units – all with ultrafast broadband.
£170 million investment for the A303 - more good news for Somerset business!

The A303 is the most direct main route between the south east and the south west. Tens of thousands of people use the road every day, including tourists on their way to some of the nation’s favorite holiday destinations. The aim is to transform the route into an expressway, a new type of strategic road which is as safe and reliable as a motorway and where ‘mile-a-minute’ journeys are the norm. Consultation on the A303 Sparkford to Ilchester scheme is now open.
