The first phase of this brand new Centre, owned by Somerset County Council, opened in February 2016 and supports the establishment and growth of the low carbon supply chain cluster in Somerset and the South West. It is ideally placed for businesses looking to locate close to the new nuclear power station development at Hinkley Point C; or for those looking to develop other low carbon energy solutions such as wind or wave power.
The Somerset Energy Innovation Centre will provide 2,400 square metres of flexible office, meeting and informal networking space/hot-desking facilities and will have a cafe area. Business support will be provided by the managing agents, SWMAS Ltd.. The first phase will be followed by a small additional space ready for occupation later this summer; and with other phases in the pipeline over subsequent years, this will be an excellent Centre for networking.
The first phase was constructed by Midas.
Cllr David Hall, Somerset County Council’s Cabinet Member for Business, Inward Investment and Policy, said: “This first phase has been completed on time and on budget which is fantastic news for Somerset and the South West.
“The Innovation Centre represents a major investment in our county which will create jobs and encourage growth, providing a huge boost to the local economy and laying the foundations for long-term sustainable growth.
“I’m delighted with the progress being made and look forward to returning in a few months when our first businesses have moved in.”
SWMAS Ltd, are now taking enquiries from companies interested in taking up space in the Centre and they can be contacted via the dedicated website and by phone on 03301 244442 or by e-mail on SEIC@swmas.co.uk
