Highbridge Enterprise Centre

Highbridge Enterprise Centre is one of the 5 Somerset County Council owned Centres across the County. The Centres are managed by TDA Ltd on behalf of the Council. Here are some examples of why businesses have chosen to locate at the Highbridge Centre, which was opened in 2015.

Highbridge Enterprise Centre was the ideal location for MediaHound Films with its superfast broadband connection facilitating high-speed video upload to their clients. The Centre became the permanent address providing a professional front to the business, a landline telephone number for companies seeking video or photography services and flexible work space and meeting rooms. Simon Knight,

MediaHound Film’s Cinematographer, takes up the story:

“The Centre is such great value for money, and with all the additional benefits it was a no brainer. Since my arrival at the Centre it has been fantastic for building networks with the other businesses here. This was a real motivator and increased our dedication to realise the potential of the business and break into the local and regional market. Being in a competitive market we focused on our strengths – being able to provide specialist ultra high definition video – and began to help our customers understand the advantages and benefits video can produce for their business.”

While MediaHound Films began to understand the local market Somerset Business Advisor, Wayne Loschi, provided free marketing advice to Simon. All tenants of Somerset Enterprise Centres receive free business advice from an impartial, SFEDI trained business adviser. The Highbridge Enterprise Centre also provides hot desk facilities and meeting rooms with superfast broadband connection enabling Airhead Animation to upload video to their clients at high speed. During this time, Sam Finlay, Head Scribbler, recognised the superb value for money the office spaces at the Centre presented and became a tenant.

Sam explains: “The Enterprise Centre helped me service the needs of my global clients as I was able to upload content to clients in Hong Kong in a matter of seconds. With so many of the tools we now use being ‘in the cloud’, the superfast broadband is essential and the dedicated office means I can focus on the business throughout my working day. The hot desks provide me with the flexibility and opportunity to grow the business by using this space for sub-contractors or a junior role – someone who I can train, develop and supervise.”

“Over the last couple of months I have been connecting with creative entrepreneurs, like myself, to help them on their journey. Being based at the Centre means I can interact with these people and build a relationship in a professional environment. Being here has also connected me to other local businesses and together we have delivered joint workshops for the local community.

Another to discover the facilities at Highbridge is Emma Holmes, an online Scratch DJ tutor and life coach. Emma was looking to base her business somewhere that she wasn’t isolated and provided her with the right mind set and motivation to help her business succeed. To become better connected and realise the potential of her business streams, while developing her creativity.

“The Centre was one of the first venues I looked at and I knew it was perfect. I love the space, it’s close to where I live and I can access the offices and superfast broadband 24/7. This gives me the opportunity to film my tutorials at the weekends and enables me to separate home and work, giving me a better life balance. The space has given me the freedom to create more, be more focussed and save time as my equipment is permanently set up.”
