Dennis Maps have been working with Ordnance Survey since 2010, printing close to two million maps every year from their modern printing facilities in Frome. They use state of the art digital facilities and draw on a skilled workforce from the local area, continuing a printing tradition which goes back over 160 years. In addition to the iconic OS ‘Explorer’ Maps and OS ‘Landranger’, Dennis Maps also print Custom Made maps to order for OS.
The popular mapping service has seen year-on-year growth. More recently, OS acquired a 25% shareholding in Dennis Maps in order to further strengthen their relationship. The majority shareholding of Dennis Maps lies with the estate of Felix Dennis and operates for the benefit of The Heart of England Forest Charity.
Steve Burry, Managing Director of Dennis Maps, said: “Our relationship with Ordnance Survey as both a shareholder and partner will help ensure the development and enhancement of Ordnance Survey’s printed products by our highly skilled staff here in Somerset.”
Frome is a town where traditional skills, such as printing, have fused together with more modern, digital and creative, skill sets to produce a range of businesses that are thriving. There are some innovation and enterprise spaces provided by entrepreneurs at the Old Church School (Forward Space) and at the Cheese & Grain Hub, along with an Enterprise Centre at Keyford Court offering easy in and out terms, along with business support. Combined with a supportive Town & District Council, and Frome Chamber, the ingredients are there for new and old businesses to thrive.
