Minehead is the principle town for West Somerset, with Williton and a range of other small towns making up the very rural district where much of the area lies within the Exmoor National Park. The existing Hinkley Point Nuclear Power site lies within West Somerset, and with the envisaged development of Hinkley Point 'C' the energy sector is likely to play a key part in the District’s economy for the foreseeable future. The Creative Industries and tourism are also strong sectors along with food and drink production. Specialist businesses, such as Shearwell Data, Singer Instruments and Miles Tea are home grown companies with an international reach.
